As wedding videographers, we feel a large responsibility to capture your wedding day just as it happens. We want you to be able to relive the day and experience those same feelings and emotions every time you watch your video. As a bride and groom, you may have a lot of questions about what we do and how we do it. We always encourage you to ask! But today, I am going to give you some insight in what we, as videographers, want you to know before your wedding day.

The aim of this article is to give you more of an idea of what we do and what makes for a great video. Relax, though, there isn’t too much required on your end 🙂

Just be yourself

I can’t stress this enough. While photographers have you pose and instruct you on how to look at each other, where to put your hands and whether or not to smile, we just want you to be natural. A great wedding video, we believe, consists of two people who are genuinely in love. At this point in your relationship, you are probably pretty comfortable with each other and the emotions are natural. That is what we aim to get on video – love, happiness, laughter – in a natural state. Sometimes, we will tell you to just have a moment with each other and we will stand back and capture that moment. Every love story is unique and we want to capture your special relationship and who you are.

We are camera ninjas

What’s a camera ninja? We have the camera rolling when you don’t even realize it. As mentioned above, we want to get you being natural. If we know a camera is on us, we may act differently. So we often have our camera rolling when it seems that nothing is really going on. Maybe it’s my fear that I’ll miss something magic when I least expect it, but I have my camera on most of the time. I’ve found that some of the funniest, most memorable moments happen when you’re just enjoying your company. Those special hugs, that laughter, your smiles, your tears – it all makes the day what it is, and it is something to be cherished.

Raw emotion

Do you see a trend here? Natural. Raw. You. Emotions are what makes reliving your wedding day through video so special. With a successful wedding video, you are able to feel the same emotions you felt on your wedding day. You feel the anticipation, the nervousness and the joy. That comes through the emotions we capture on your day. I’ve been notorious for getting teary eyed right along with you as you turn to face each other for your first look. I love seeing that raw emotion from you! I love seeing happy tears and nervous laughs and you will, too. Don’t be afraid to show that emotion, to feel all the feels on your wedding day. Enjoy every moment!

We work well with photographers

I’m sure at some point, when you hire both a photographer and videographer, you may wonder how we will work together. From our experience, it has always gone without a hitch. We are all there because you have hired us and trust us to capture your day and that is our mission. We all have the same goal and want you to be pleased, so we work with each other. When we work together, it’s an enjoyable and smooth experience for all. And we like to make new friends, so while working with photographers, we always see it as an opportunity to network and build friendships around common interests.

We want to know what you want to see

When you get your wedding video back from us, we want you to be excited and happy with the end product. So we want to know what you want to see in your video and what is important to you. Different people have different preferences, so we strongly encourage you to communicate that to us prior to your wedding date. I always ask brides this very question when meeting with them and genuinely want to know, from your perspective, what is important to you. We will be sure to capture the day from the time we arrive until we leave. But for your edited video, we also want to know what it is you really hope to see, too!

We hope that this was helpful in some way to you, as you prepare for your wedding day. There are a lot of questions you may have as a bride-to-be and we want to help make the experience pleasant and enjoyable and for you to be comfortable. If there are other questions you have, we are always happy to help!

If you are still needing a wedding videographer, please get in contact with us! We would love to chat more.
